G.I. SURGERY
Caradiac Centres and Neuro Centres are available in plenty
in every nook and corner of the city, but the latest superspeciality
of G.I. Surgery (Surgical Gastroenterology) which has been
only recently recognized by the Ministry of Health, Govt.
of India, is the need of the day and has not yet bloomed fully
in the city for the benefit of the masses. Hence lies the
need for super-specialized G.I. Surgeons.
Only a qualified G.I. Surgeon can provide a comprehensive/methodological
approach and management of large chunk of patients suffering
from wide variety of G.I. related problems.
More so, in the recent years a gradual increase is being
observed in G.I. cases and more and more number of patients
are presenting today with abdominal diseases, which were once
read in text books only. To name a few pancreatitis in various
forms, liver diseases, large bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis),
increasing number of G.I. oncological cases and blunt injury
to solid organs for which consensus is more towards conservatism
under a qualified G.I. team.
A sound / strong academic background and an exclusive
and extensive G.I. Surgery exposure makes a G.I. surgical
case operative manoeuvre different for better surgical out
come, with much less morbidity/mortality.
Dr. Ajay Kumar Sachdev, (MS, Ph.D) has been the founder
member of the super-speciality department of G.I. surgery
in the reputed G.B. Pant Hospital, New Delhi. He was instrumental
is starting M.Ch (G.I. surgery) superspeciality course in
the department and has been a teacher & examiner for the
same for more than a decade. He has an exclusive & wide
core G.I. Surgery experience of over eighteen years at G.B.
Pant Hospital (Dept. of G.I. Surgery).
He is a keen academician & has published numerous
research papers in both national and international journals
of repute and contributed various chapters in a books related
to G.I. Surgery. He has also delivered a number of invited
lecturers in various conferences. Dr. Sachdev has been an
invited faculty to reputed institutes.
Dr.Sachdev has evolved many new & innovative procedures
for treating complex G.I. Surgeries including, radical surgery
for G.I. Cancers.
Dr.
Sachdev has been in practice since 1993 and worked as cheif
cordinator of Gastro Sciences Centre at Batra Hospital, New
Delhi.Presently he is working as Sr. Surgical Gastroenterologist
& G.I. Oncologist with Fortis Group of Hospital.
